Cliff Club Information

The Kansas Cliff Club, Inc. is a private, grassroots, non-profit organization created for the purpose of supporting the sport of rock climbing in Wichita. Located in a vacated concrete plant at 4456 South Clifton, the KCC offers 65 and 80-foot outdoor climbs and 32-foot indoor climbs. Hundreds of routes, equipped for top-rope and lead, have been developed inside and outside using thousands of holds, in difficulties ranging from beginner to advanced.

The Kansas Cliff Club is not a typical rock climbing gym. Members in good standing are equal owner/partner of the Kansas Cliff Club and are provided a combination for access. The combination changes monthly. Members must possess their own equipment and have or develop the necessary skills to use that equipment. Top-rope belay and lead climbing and belay certification is necessary and is provided by appointment. The member should be ready to demonstrate equipment, knowledge and ability. There is a $5 cost for certification.

An instructional course is available, costs $30 and lasts approximately 4 hours. Course attendees will receive intensive, hands-on instruction of the safety equipment and skills required to safely top-rope at Kansas Cliff Club. Reservations are needed to attend this course; call for more details. Several books and many other points of reference are available which present the necessary knowledge and skills. Members are expected to develop these skills to a high level of proficiency, take safety very seriously and stack the odds in their favor.
